Frequently Asked
Questions

Everything you need to know about AI Radio Bot — from getting started to advanced broadcast features.

🚀
Getting Started
Everything you need to launch your station
Can I try AI Radio Bot before subscribing?+
Absolutely. Visit our Demo page to watch a full walkthrough of every feature, or log in to the platform and explore using our live demo account — no commitment required. We also provide access to fully functioning trial profiles on request. Contact us and we’ll set one up for you.
Do I have to use AI voices? Can I use my own?+
Not at all — AI voices are completely optional. You can go live and broadcast in your own voice, upload pre-recorded segments, and schedule your own music playlists. Many of our users are human DJs who simply use AI Radio Bot as their station infrastructure — handling scheduling, automation, and off-hours programming while they focus on their live shows. Use as much or as little AI as you want.
Is AI Radio Bot replacing the human DJ?+
No — and that’s by design. AI Radio Bot is a broadcast platform, not a replacement for personality. Think of it as your station crew: it handles the technical work, keeps things running when you’re offline, and fills your schedule with professional content. But when you want to go live, pick up the mic, or inject your own voice and content, the platform gets out of the way. The best stations combine both.
How long does it take to get my station up and running?+
After you sign up, we allow up to 24 hours to spin up your dedicated streaming server instance. In practice it’s usually much faster. While your server starts up, you can already begin adding content, setting up your broadcast format, and configuring your station. Once your server is live, the player badge changes from OFFLINE to LIVE and you’re on air.
What is the AI Radio Bot Studio?+
AI Radio Bot Studio is the user-friendly platform that lets you manage all your radio content through a simple graphical interface — no technical background required. It’s where you configure your broadcast settings, manage articles, upload music, design your hour format, and monitor your station. Detailed documentation is available in the Help section of the Studio, and our Specs page has the full feature reference.

Voices & Content
Voice cloning, AI generation, RSS, and music
Can AI Radio Bot clone my voice?+
Yes. You can add up to 100 custom cloned voices per account — all private and exclusive to your station. All you need is a 30-second MP3 recording of your voice in a quiet environment. Record yourself reading our provided text, upload it in AI Radio Studio under Voice Generator & Cloning, and your cloned voice becomes available for voiceovers immediately. No other users will have access to your custom voices.
Can I generate entirely new AI voices from scratch?+
Yes — the Voice Generator lets you create unique AI voices using a simple text prompt. Describe the gender, pitch, age, tone, speed, and even accent or emotion, and AI Radio Bot generates a voice for you. You can regenerate as many times as needed until you get exactly the voice you want. See the Voice Design Prompt Engineering guide for full prompt reference.
What languages are supported for voiceovers?+
We currently support 12 languages: American English, British English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Indian English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. AI-powered translation lets you take content written in virtually any language and convert it for broadcast in all supported languages. We’re continuing to add more languages.
Is there a limit on voiceover generation?+
No — voiceover generation is unlimited. You can create 1,000 voiced articles and upload 1,000 audio files across all audio types. Voiceovers can be previewed and downloaded directly from the Text Content section of your Studio, so you can also use them outside of AI Radio Bot for other projects. These limits can be raised on request.
Does AI Radio Bot support AI article generation?+
Yes — the Generate Article feature uses generative AI to create broadcast-ready articles from a simple one-sentence prompt or any webpage URL. You can also use Translate Article (converts text from any language to your voiceover languages) and Expand Idea (turns a 100-word description into a full-length article). All three tools open the standard Add Article form so you can review and edit before broadcasting.
Can AI Radio Bot DJ my music?+
Yes. Our AI playlist generator automatically creates music playlists and generates engaging track announcements. For well-known artists, these announcements include facts and brief histories about the artist and song — automatically. You can also write custom announcements for any track, overlay them on top of the music intro (duck-and-return style), or disable announcements per track individually.
How does RSS content sourcing work?+
AI Radio Bot’s RSS engine goes far beyond basic feed reading. You can connect up to 20 RSS feeds per station, each with its own independent configuration. Features include merging multiple articles into one, AI summarization, grammar correction, sentiment filtering, keyword blocking, and automatic cleanup of old content. Default sourcing frequency is hourly, but we can configure it as fast as every 10 minutes for fast-moving content like breaking news — contact us to set this up.
Does AI Radio Bot support real-time text-to-speech?+
We don’t stream real-time TTS — instead, AI Radio Bot generates voiceover files which are then reused for broadcast. This keeps costs down and allows our subscription pricing to stay accessible. In practice, voiceovers are generated quickly (minutes, not hours), can be previewed before airing, and can be regenerated at any time with no limits. When you update an article’s text or voice, AI Radio Bot automatically re-generates the voiceover on save.

Broadcast & Format
Scheduling, format, and more
Can I set up a linear broadcast schedule?+
Yes — AI Radio Bot gives you a full professional scheduling system with multiple layers of control. Here’s what’s available:

Radio Format Presets
Start by choosing your format: Talk Radio, Music Radio, Auto, or Custom. Talk Radio and Music Radio use built-in schemas that automatically weight content in favor of their respective format types. Auto analyzes what you’ve uploaded and picks the right format for you.

Custom Format Editor (Hour Clock)
Select the Custom preset and the hour-clock editor opens — a visual drag-and-drop tool where you define exactly which content type fills each slot in your broadcast hour. Music block here, news article there, promo to close — designed exactly like a professional radio programmer’s hour clock. Each slot plays one file, AI Radio Bot selects which specific file to use. Reorder slots by dragging rows in the table.

Content-Level Scheduling
Every individual article, custom audio clip, and RSS feed supports its own scheduling rules. Schedule by specific date, day of the week, time, or any combination of those. Each piece of content supports up to 24 scheduling combinations — so you can schedule a show to air at the top of every hour on Fridays, or at different times each day of the week.

Playlists (Manual Hour Clock)
Playlists give you the closest thing to a traditional radio hour clock — a manually sequenced list of content (articles, audio, music, RSS feeds, ads, promos) that you control directly. You set the order, add randomization rules per content type, write intro and outro text, and schedule the whole playlist to fire at a specific time. This is the system professional radio hosts are most familiar with.

Broadcast Only The Playlists
When enabled, AI Radio Bot’s automated programming is suspended entirely and only your playlists run — giving you 100% manual control over what airs and when. Leave it off and AI handles the automation, with your scheduled playlists inserting at their designated times.

Select NEXT Queue
For real-time control, the Select NEXT feature lets you queue specific content to play immediately after whatever is currently on air — with an optional custom intro voiceover. Reorder the queue by drag-and-drop. Once it’s empty, automated programming resumes.
Does AI Radio Bot support broadcast scheduling?+
Yes, and it’s quite flexible. You can schedule content by specific date, day of the week, time, or any combination. Each piece of content supports up to 24 scheduling rules — so you can schedule a show to air at the beginning of every hour on Friday, or at different times every day of the week. Playlists can also be scheduled, allowing you to build a full broadcast clock with timed programming blocks.
Can I mix automated programming with manually scheduled content?+
Yes — this is one of AI Radio Bot’s most flexible features. When Broadcast Only The Playlists is OFF, AI handles your station’s automated programming as the default, but any playlist you schedule with a specific time will interrupt automation and air at its designated slot. This means you can run a fully automated station 23 hours a day, then have a manually programmed playlist take over for your prime-time hour — all without any manual intervention on the day. When Broadcast Only The Playlists is ON, automation is suspended entirely and only your playlists run, giving you a fully manual broadcast clock just like traditional radio.

Technical
Streaming, files, APIs, and integrations
What is the streaming quality?+
We stream at 320kbps / 44100Hz MP3 by default — CD-quality audio, available from the entry-level tier. We can adjust the bitrate to 192kbps or 128kbps on request, which can increase the number of simultaneous listeners supported. For talk radio, 128kbps is essentially indistinguishable from 320kbps to most listeners. Contact us if you’d like your bitrate adjusted.
What audio file format should I upload?+
We support MP3 format only — WAV is not supported because file size and storage costs would require significantly higher subscription pricing. The optimal format is 320kbps / 44100Hz MPEG MP3. If a file isn’t being picked up after upload, re-export it in this exact format, delete the old file, and re-upload the new one.
How do I check what’s currently playing on my station?+
Append /status-json.xsl to your stream URL to get a live JSON response with current on-air metadata, listener count, and peak listeners. For example: https://1.airadiostream.com/[yourstation]/status-json.xsl. If your station is offline, the endpoint returns error 500 or 404 — making it useful for automated uptime monitoring as well.
How often does AI Radio Bot source content from RSS, and can it be faster than hourly?+
By default the RSS engine lets you set sourcing frequency between 1 and 24 hours. If you need content sourced more frequently — for example, road conditions or breaking news — we can configure a dedicated instance with updates as fast as every 10 minutes. Contact us and we’ll walk you through the options.
Can I embed a player on my website?+
Yes — the Web Player Designer in Station Settings lets you build a fully custom embeddable player. Choose from 8 player skins, customize colors and logo shape, configure autoplay behavior, and generate an embed code you can paste into any webpage. You can create multiple players with different designs, and restrict which domains they can be embedded on for security. See the Specs page for full details.
Is there a mobile app for listeners?+
Yes — OnRepeat is available free on iOS and Android. No sign-up required. It comes preloaded with AI Radio Bot-powered stations and listeners can add any external stream URL — making it a universal radio player. No data is collected. Your station can be listed in the app after a simple approval process — contact us to get started.
Can you develop a custom mobile app for only my radio?+
Yes — custom mobile app development is available as an add-on service (not included in the subscription). Pricing depends on the complexity and feature set required. Contact us to discuss your needs and get a quote.

Platform & Plans
Content vault, music licensing, custom features, and future plans
Do you provide content for streaming?+
Yes — Content Vault is our library of pre-made audio content including music tracks, talk clips, stingers, and effects available for use in your broadcasts. Some content is free and some is paid. We continue adding new content regularly. To use a Content Vault track as background music in a voiceover, first add it to your Audio Content via the “Add to Audio Content” button in the Vault.
Can AI Radio Bot help with music licensing?+
We can provide guidance, though we don’t handle licensing directly on your behalf. A great starting point is researching licensing with BMI and ASCAP — they cover a large catalog of music including many timeless hits. If your station broadcasts music or content requiring licensing, you’ll need to have your licenses in order before being listed in the OnRepeat app, as Apple and Google require this documentation from us.
Can you develop custom features we need but don’t have yet?+
Yes — and we actively encourage feature requests. Many of the features available today were built based on user requests, at no additional cost to those users. New features added to the platform become available to all users. We can’t promise immediate delivery, but we’ll do our best to build what’s feasible in a timely manner. Contact us with your ideas.
What are your future plans for the platform?+
AI Radio Bot is still in its early stages — we’re building something unlike anything else on the market, and we continue to innovate. We have a full pipeline of features in active development. We also listen closely to users: many current features started as user requests. If you have ideas, we want to hear them. Our goal is to bring radio broadcasting into the real 21st century.
How do I get my radio listed in the OnRepeat app?+
Contact us first — we’ll review your station and let you know if anything needs improvement before it can be listed. If you broadcast music or licensed content, be ready to provide proof of licensing. If your station sounds to our standard and licensing is in order, it will be enabled and appear in OnRepeat almost immediately for all our mobile app listeners.
Why AI Radio Bot?
How we compare — and why it matters for your station
How is AI Radio Bot different from other internet radio platforms?+
Most internet radio platforms are infrastructure — they stream what you give them, nothing more. AI Radio Bot is AI-native, meaning it actively participates in running your station. It generates content, writes and voices articles, sources news from RSS, creates music announcements, builds broadcast schedules, and fills your off-hours automatically. Traditional platforms offer around 4 broadcast settings. AI Radio Bot offers 21. That’s not a minor upgrade — it’s a fundamentally different product category. You’re not just hosting a stream; you’re running a full AI-powered radio station.
I already have streaming infrastructure. Why would I switch?+
If your current setup requires you to manually fill every hour of programming, find and format content yourself, and hire producers or on-air talent to keep things running around the clock — that’s expensive and unsustainable. AI Radio Bot handles the content layer your current stack doesn’t touch. Many of our users kept parts of their existing setup and layered AI Radio Bot on top specifically for its automation, content generation, and voice capabilities. You don’t have to replace everything to get the value.
Is 320kbps audio really available on the entry-level plan?+
Yes — CD-quality 320kbps audio is the default for all plans from day one. Most competing platforms reserve higher bitrates for premium tiers, which means you’re paying more just to sound professional. We think that’s backwards. Every AI Radio Bot station sounds broadcast-quality out of the box, regardless of the plan you’re on.
Can AI Radio Bot run a station that sounds like it has a real team behind it?+
That’s exactly what it’s built for. AI Radio Bot handles the full stack of what a production team normally does: sourcing and writing news content, voicing it in a natural radio-friendly style, announcing tracks with artist facts and history, dropping stingers between segments, airing promos and station IDs, and keeping programming running 24/7 without gaps. Listeners tuning in for the first time won’t know it’s automated unless you tell them.
What kinds of stations is AI Radio Bot best suited for?+
Almost any format works well — talk radio, music radio, news radio, niche interest stations, local community radio, business stations, and multilingual broadcasts. The platform is especially powerful for: stations that can’t afford a full production team but want to sound like they have one; human DJs who want to keep their station live and professional during off-hours; and anyone who wants to reach audiences in multiple languages without hiring separate voice talent. If you can describe the format, AI Radio Bot can run it.
How much does it actually cost to run a professional-sounding station?+
Plans start at $45/month. For that, you get a dedicated streaming server, 320kbps audio, unlimited voiceover generation, AI content creation, RSS automation, music management, a custom embeddable player, and your station in the OnRepeat mobile app. Compare that to the cost of hiring even a part-time producer or voice talent — the math is significant. Higher tiers unlock more simultaneous listeners and expanded capabilities. See the full pricing breakdown for details.
What happens to my station when I’m not actively managing it?+
It keeps broadcasting — professionally. AI Radio Bot continuously sources content from your RSS feeds, generates voiceovers, queues music with announcements, and maintains your format around the clock. You don’t need to babysit it. Set up your format once, connect your content sources, and AI Radio Bot runs your station while you sleep. This is the core value: 24/7 professional broadcast without 24/7 human oversight.
How many listeners can my station support?+
Up to 75,000 simultaneous listeners on a single stream — enough for any internet radio station at any stage of growth. Each AI Radio Bot station runs on its own dedicated streaming server instance, so your station’s performance is never affected by traffic on other stations. This architecture also means we can handle maintenance and upgrades for your station independently, without touching anyone else’s broadcast.
Is AI Radio Bot suitable for a first-time station owner with no radio background?+
AI Radio Bot was built for commercial broadcast professionals — the feature depth, format controls, and broadcast architecture reflect that. But we also made it accessible enough that someone with zero radio background can get a professional-sounding station running without needing a technical team. The Studio uses a straightforward graphical interface, detailed documentation is built in, and our team is available to help. Whether you’re a seasoned radio pro or launching your first station, the platform meets you where you are.
What’s the one thing that makes AI Radio Bot genuinely different?+
It was invented from scratch — not ported from an older platform or rebranded from something else. Every feature in AI Radio Bot was designed around one question: what would a fully AI-native radio broadcasting platform look like if you built it today, knowing what AI can do? The result is a platform that doesn’t just stream what you give it — it actively participates in creating, programming, and running your station. That’s a fundamentally different thing than what everyone else is selling.
